These days, most people know Ibiza best as the number one destination for clubbers in Europe. The island has become synonymous with vast nightclubs, all night parties, and terrible hangovers, but in truth, for those whose pleasures run beyond the visceral, there are plenty of attractions to appreciate away from the nightlife in Ibiza.

Ibiza has been a popular place to holiday since ancient times - as evidenced by the Roman remains on the island, and the main reasons for this are the beautiful scenery of the interior, the incredible beaches, and the warm sunshine.

Ibiza has something for everyone these days. Aside from the throbbing nightclubs, there are water parks, beaches, small villages, and pleasant towns to spend time in. The main destinations to visit in Ibiza are Ibiza Town where you find most of the nightclubs and shops; San Antonio, where you can see the worst excesses of the tourist boom in the rather brutal architecture and shops selling sun cream; and Santa Eulalia - the most pleasant of Ibiza's many small fishing villages, and a great place to go for dinner in the evening.

Families visiting Ibiza are well served by large resort complexes where everything you need to enjoy your holiday in the sun is on hand and convenient, there are also a huge number of apartment buildings offering cheap no frills accommodation for people looking for a bargain - although these tend to be colonised by sunburnt clubbers and can get rowdy at night.
