Although these days, Seville is associated more with oranges than anything else, it is in fact one of the most historic cities in Spain, and was for a while, the seat of the Spanish rulers.
Nowadays, Seville is the main city of Andalusia and its rich history and great location make it a popular place for visitors to being their tour of the region.
Attractions to look out for in Seville include the immense cathedral (pretty hard to miss actually). This incredible building has the largest floor space of any place of worship in the whole world. Within the lavish interior of the cathedral, you can see the tomb of the Genoese explorer Christopher Columbus and by climbing to the top of the tower, La Giralda you can see some great views of Seville.
The other main building for tourists is the famous Grand Alcázar, one of Spain's most important palaces. The palace dates from 913, and was the seat of power of King Alfonso. Architecturally, the Grand Alcázar is heavily influenced by the Moorish styles, and it has beautiful gardens to stroll through.
The grand Plaza de España, the main square, is one of Seville's favourite spots to kick back and relax, and there are a number of fountains and mini canals for the kids to play in as long as they don't get caught, and in the evening, the square is popular with revellers, and there are a number of wine bars and cafés that spill out onto the pavements.
