One of the most popular holiday destinations for British holiday makers looking for a bit of summer (or winter) sunshine, Tenerife is the perfect place to visit for a relaxing beach holiday with practically guaranteed sunshine no matter when you go.
Having largely recovered from a dip in popularity due to peoples perception of Tenerife as a low rent, low quality destination, the island has been reinvented at the other end of the market, heavily promoted as a chic place to visit, and offering top class accommodation for visitors.
For sure there are still many cheap and cheerful apartment complexes along the islands volcanic coastline, but increasingly, these are the exception rather than the rule, and more and more people travelling to Tenerife are there to stay in a good hotel.
The island is volcanic in origin, and has some truly stunning scenery as testament to its beginnings. Mount Teide, the dominant peak rises dramatically above the surrounding landscape, and if you feel active, you can walk and scramble all the way to the top.
The main tourist areas are in the south of the island, where the beaches are best, and although Playa de las Americas and Los Christianos are the best known destinations, you may also want to consider staying in Costa de Silencio or Los Gantos for a different experience of Tenerife entirely.
