One of the largest cities in Spain, and the main port on the Mediterranean coast of the country, Valencia is a wealthy, cultured city that is a popular gateway for visitors coming to stay on the Costa Brava to the south, and the Costa Dorado to the north. As well as being a popular destination for city breaks, and the centre of a major tourist area, Valencia is an important cultural centre in Spain, home of the national dish - Paella, and also one of the increasing number of places in the world that claim to hold the one and only genuine Holy Grail - which you can see in a display at the cathedral.

Valencia's popularity as a destination from which to begin a fly drive holiday in Spain stems mainly from its location. The city is close to a number of major attractions and resorts including Alicante and Benidorm, as well as having beautiful scenery surrounding it in the rolling countryside.

Amongst the many attractions within Valencia itself, one of the most popular is the famous Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas, a truly stupendous baroque building with an inside that is marginally more flamboyant and outrageous than a drag queen's costume.

As far as art goes, Valencia is home to one of the top galleries in the country - The Museo de Bellas Artes, where you can see internationally known works by El Greco, and Goya amongst many others.
